For the Malakoff cake, prepare the cream. Mix 5 tablespoons of milk with the custard powder. Bring the remaining milk to a boil and stir in the custard powder. Bring to a boil briefly and pour into a bowl. Cover with cling film and allow to cool.

In the meantime, toast the flaked almonds in a pan without fat until golden brown and let cool. Place a springform pan (diameter 24 cm) on a large plate or cake plate.

Cream the butter with the powdered sugar, stirring in the cooled pudding by the tablespoonful. Stir in the ground almonds. Briefly dip biscuits in milk-rum mixture and place in mold until bottom is covered.

Spread a thin layer of buttercream on top. Place another layer of biscotti on top and spread with cream and repeat this again.

Put the cake in the refrigerator and let it cool well. Then remove the cake from the edge with a knife and spread the cream all around and sprinkle with flaked almonds.

Spread the remaining cream and decorate with chocolate flakes. Serve the Malakoff cake.
