Instructions:

Prepare the dough for the gingerbread house. To do this, bring the butter, sugar, salt, water and honey to the boil in a saucepan while stirring. Mix in about 800g of the flour, the baking powder and the cocoa.

Then knead well and let it rest overnight in a plastic wrap.

The next day, mix in the remaining flour and knead well. To make the house beautiful, it is best to pre-draw the sides and the roof on a paper beforehand so that everything will be even.

Roll out the dough and cut it out. (Don’t forget to cut out the roof, doors and windows as well) Before baking, brush with milk and bake at 180° for about 20 minutes.

After baking, brush the dough with the icing, so it lasts longer. For the “glue”: beat egg whites to snow and stir in powdered sugar until it gets really firm.

Pour into a piping bag and place the walls of the houses on a firm surface and “glue” together. Hold until the walls stand on their own or alternatively support the gingerbread house with objects.

Preparation Tip:

The gingerbread house can of course be decorated with the remaining "glue", as well as Smarties, sugar beads & Co, as desired. The house is especially beautiful if you draw bricks in the roof before baking or then let icicles hang down from the roof and dust it with powdered sugar.
