Instructions:

Heat the oil in a large saucepan. When it begins to streak, sauté the onion and garlic for 2 minutes. Add the curry leaves, chili peppers, and mustard seeds and sauté for another 1 minute.

Add turmeric, dal, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, fenugreek and 375 ml cups of coconut milk. Add 625 ml of water. Cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes until the dal is soft. Be careful not to let it get too dry and stick, add ewtas of water if necessary.

Once the dal is soft, stir in the remaining 60 ml coconut milk, season with salt, remove the cinnamon stick and serve hot.
