Total time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

Instructions:

First prepare the strudel dough as described and pull it out.

Peel and core apples and cut into very thin slices. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix in a bowl with raisins and 2 tablespoons (!) sugar and 1 tablespoon (!) vanilla sugar.

Spread half of the melted butter on the strudel dough and roast the breadcrumbs in the remaining butter. Mix the butter crumbs, remaining sugar, vanilla sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the strudel.

Spread the apple mixture evenly on top and roll up the strudel with the help of the cloth. Close the ends well.

Slide strudel, dough seam side down, onto greased baking sheet. (If tray is too small, place strudel in a horseshoe shape).

Brush with beaten egg and bake in preheated oven at 180 °C for about 30-40 minutes, brushing occasionally with melted butter.

Let the apple strudel cool slightly and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve as a warm main course or cold.

Preparation Tip:

Make sure that the apples are not too watery, but rather dry, so that the apple strudel stays nice and crispy. This goes well with warm vanilla sauce or whipped cream.
